More steady bass (shuffle)

The steady bass technique has already been discussed here. A variation of this technique is to replace the quarter notes with eighth notes and to play these eighth notes in a shuffle/swing rhythm. The idea is that the first eighth note in a pair always rings slightly longer than the second. This alternation between long and short notes produces the typical feeling of this style. The technique is also used in other musical styles, such as Texas Blues (Lightnin’ Hopkins).
